Disposition:
IRRITABLE
Even before being titled the Warrior of Light, Obsidian has been something of a curmudgeon. Life in his Viera clan has left him bitter, and the gradual betrayals from who were supposed to be his comrades has left him more than a bit wary. In addition, he's spent a lot of time doing thankless tasks, which has left him more blunt with his intentions, for better or for worse. While he still doesn't mind aiding people who truly need it, he's more selective in who he helps rather than just blindly running around on anyone's whim. If a person is truly helpless, then he will indeed offer his services. In any case, Obsidian can come off as something of a jerk when he expresses his impatience, such as when he flatly told the Nu Mou to just give him the Important Quest Item so he could move on with his task. It didn't work, but gods if he didn't try.
EMPATHETIC
Like it or not, Obsidian truly cannot help but have a heart for people in dire need as opposed to, say, a thankless merchant who berates him for not bringing his goods back in immaculate condition. He's particularly soft for children, the beast tribes, and even just run of the mill animals. As his journey has gone on, he has started to become more and more empathetic to even his enemies, understanding their reasons for their actions, but still ultimately deciding that he needs to stop them for the good of others. Even in the face of beings that choose to the end the entire universe, Obsidian has offered a hand out to his foe. That's not to say that every enemy he's encountered has earned his empathy, especially if they have hurt him on some personal level, but he has certainly made an attempt in other fights.
STOIC
Obsidian is no stranger to personal trauma, wars, and threats on a global scale. Even so, he really does not handle it in the most healthy of ways; habitually, he tends to keep much of his emotions to himself, especially the ones that he perceives as "getting in the way". Full of grief because one of your best friends died? Just shove that down deep inside of you! Worried that you might be dying because of all the excessive Light energy you have absorbed? Keep that shit to yourself! Concerned about being at the end of the universe and all of your friends have vanished but you gotta keep going? Yep, just gonna march on and do what needs to be done! This isn't to say this hasn't bitten him in the ass at some point, but Obsidian does not make a habit of sharing his woes to others very much, instead preferring to be a foundation for other people.
LOYAL
Once someone has Obsidian's friendship, it's ride or die time. He is intensely protective of his comrades to an absurd amount, to the point that he is self-sacrificing for their well-being. At the same time, it is almost impossible for him to refuse a request made by one of his friends. On more than one occasion it was plain to see that one of his fellow Scions, Urianger, was hiding something from everyone else. Even so albeit it would have been easy to take offense or feel betrayed, Obsidian instead opted to trust him as he does his other comrades. Too often his party is theorizing, strategizing, and planning on how best to tackle their current issues, leaving Obsidian more or less to nod along and help execute whatever they have decided. In addition, Obsidian does typically let his guard down more around those he cares about, and is less concerned about saving face. Basically, if you have earned his friendship, there is no man more loyal than Obsidian who values his comrades like family.
Suitability: The aspect of being on another world for an adventure is really not something that will bother Obsidian overmuch. He's been to another world before, in fact, and recognizes that sometimes the rules are going to be different on other worlds! However, the idea of being a Gembonded will take some adjustments, particularly in the idea that his body will probably change once a month out of his control. So long as he has a sense of self, he will eventually adjust; at least he ain't getting turned into a frog or an imp again, after all. However, even all of that isn't as intense for him as say Synchrony. Obsidian is someone who has some intimacy issues and will need sometime to adjust to the setting for that aspect, and may be resistant about casual sex unless it's someone he explicitly knows first as he does not enjoy one night stands and flings. Though he is aware that Synchrony doesn't require sex, a lot of the encouragement from the locals send a pretty different message to him much of the time.
Condition upon arrival: Healthy, no extra effort needed!
Abilities:
Azem's summon - Possessing Azem's celestial stone permits Obsidian to "call upon" the aid of others. In this case, it allows him to summon people to his side if they answer his call. In terms of properly nerfing this, I would say that it probably only allows him to summon characters in Noctium so long as they consent to the call.
Dark Knight - Unlike most other guilds, dark knights are a bit more difficult to come by as they have no official guild and much of Obsidian's teachings are, in a way, self-taught. This method of being a fighter means to call upon darker emotions to fuel one's fight: anger, frustration, even grief in some respects. This emboldens Obsidian, making him a stocky fighter and difficult to put down. Perhaps he does not do damage as say a black mage might, but it's also a complete chore to try to defeat him; he has a powerful shield that will eat up most attempts to inflict damage, and even an ability that will allow him to push his limits even when he should be past them. In addition, a few of his skills permit him to heal some his own wounds.
Esteem - Technically this goes along with Obsidian being a dark knight, but this felt worth mentioning on its own. Obsidian is able to summon a fraction of himself that is essentially his emotions unshielded, a part of him that considers itself pragmatic and wanting nothing but the best for himself. Albeit technically this is his esteem, Obsidian continues to refer to this part of him under the name Fray. At times during a battle, Obsidian is able to summon Fray to aid him, but I'm more interested to see him pop up when it's convenient (and sometimes not!) during threads for interactive purposes.
Echo - The Echo in the Final Fantasy XIV setting is basically a specialized power awakened by the primal and inferred goddess, Hydaelyn. This can manifest in a number of ways, but in the case of the Warrior of Light it permits them to occasionally view the past through someone's eyes as they witnessed it, and to understand any spoken language so long as the individual possesses a soul. In this case, Obsidian getting a glimpse of someone's past will only be done with the player's consent.
Kojin Blessing - A magical blessing provided to Obsidian that allows him to breathe water!
